BLMF Young Musicians Program

The BLMF Young Musicians Program provides access to private music tutoring for Bastrop youth interested in a music career. Rural communities, especially teenagers, have more impediments to accessing music education than city residents. In order to help educate and empower the next generation of Bastrop musicians, BLMF matches Bastrop youth with high-quality music tutors for sponsored private music tutoring to advance their education and set them up for successful careers as musicians.

Promising and dedicated Bastrop residents between 14 - 18 years of age can apply (or be recommended) for 9 months of sponsored tutoring on the instrument of their choice. Professional music tutors are found and vetted based on student needs, and teachers come to the house or school of the student twice a month for private instruction.

In order to be accepted into the program, certain requirements need to be met including proof that the youth is a resident of Bastrop County and enrolled in a public high school.

If accepted, BLMF matches the student to a professional music tutor in the Central Texas area who is able to come to the student’s home or school for two lessons a month of personalized, professional music tutoring.
